Prom Theme/Static Faction(1997) Prom Theme pt 2/the Rabbles(2004)
Prom themes have been a favorite songwriting motif of mine. I remember getting so worked up at school dances during the slow dance and being so shy but so excited so it was fun putting these songs together as a tribute to those innocent times. It was always interesting playing Prom Theme live juxtaposed with all the punky and psych jams. A few times it elicited a hostile reaction which I thought was ironically punk. The Rabbles version was written off an unidentifiable song I heard coming out of a car stereo when walking down the street. I went home and wrote this whole thing off a few seconds of a flash of inspiration. Thanks to the amazing musicians on these tracks who totally got into the spirit of the songs!
